Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000


Responsibilities

  • Design fire protection and plumbing systems (e.g., sprinkler layouts, fire pump sizing, piping, sanitary, medical gas, domestic water heating, ductwork).

  • Perform system calculations, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, and equipment selections.

  • Develop construction documents and job-specific specifications.

  • Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction inspections.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

  • Serve as Engineer of Record and mentor junior staff.

  • Ensure compliance with codes such as NFPA, ASHRAE, and IBC.

  • High proficiency in computer-aided design tools and software.


Qualifications

  • Licenses/Certifications: Current PE License NCEES Registration Licensed in at least one U.S. state

  • Certified Plumbing Designer (Preferred)

  • LEED, Green Globes, or other sustainability credentials (Preferred)

  • Healthcare Experience Is Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited)

  • Experience: 8+ years as a licensed professional engineer

  • Computer Skills: Revit, AutoCAD MEP, MS Office Suite, Trane TOPSS, Trace 3D

  • Travel: up to 20% depending on project

Salary Range: $110,000 - $160,000 Annually


Responsibilities

  • Drive the design process from concept to completion, ensuring projects meet high-quality standards, achieve desired outcomes, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Develop innovative and impactful design solutions that elevate the lives of our users/clients.

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to inform design decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, such as NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 72, ANSI/TIA standards, and local regulations.

  • Prepare and review system specifications for Electrical and ICT systems, including material requirements, installation methods, and performance standards.

  • Design electrical and telecommunication systems for healthcare with normal backup and emergency power systems, including generators, uninterruptible power supplies and transfer switches.

  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure electrical power, lighting, and low voltage systems are integrated into the overall building design.

  • Direct and mentor designers and junior engineers in the preparation of electrical power, lighting, and ICT system designs, specifications, and documentation.

  • Plan and direct designers on effective execution of design tasks, providing clear guidance and constructive feedback.

  • Display understanding of arc-flash calculation and/or medium voltage distribution in design.

  • Correctly apply knowledge of power distribution, three phase systems, short circuit calculations, and breaker coordination in designs.

  • Challenge and inspire those around them to grow, thrive, and contribute meaningfully.

  • Actively seek out opportunities for professional development and stay abreast of the latest design trends and technologies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designs electrical systems for healthcare buildings with backup and emergency power systems, including generators, uninterruptible power supplies, and automatic transfer switches.

  • Designs and directs designers in the creation of building designs.

  • Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to specifications and requirements.

  • Utilizes Revit and other computer-aided design (CAD) software to execute engineering tasks and develop design solutions

  • Work with an experienced group of designers and engineers to prepare building electrical plans and specifications.

  • Designs the modeling and analysis of normal and emergency power distribution systems, the design of life safety systems, the design and modeling of lighting and associated control systems, and coordination with other design professionals.

  • Designs lighting control systems that comply with LEED, Energy Star, and similar energy-efficient programs.

  • Serve as an Engineer of Record.

  • Follows the NFPA70 (NEC) and other electrical industry codes, standards, and recommended practices.

  • Correctly applies knowledge of power distribution, three-phase systems, short-circuit calculations, and breaker coordination in designs.
